Briançonnet

Briançonnet is a beautiful village in the Haut-Pays located in a beautiful natural environment. In the distance stand out the summits of the Mercantour.

Nearby, the hamlets of La Sagne and Prignolet offer an authentic charm, between preserved landscapes and traditional heritage.

While walking through its cobbled and sloping alleys, organized in a checkerboard according to the Roman plan, discover beautiful stone houses, vaulted passages and doors with carved lintels.

Ancient Roman city as evidenced by many vestiges (sarcophagus, cippe, stele, bollards), the village is surmounted by the remains of a feudal castle from where you will have a very beautiful panorama of the surroundings.

The essentials

Chapelle Saint-Martin chapel

It has been listed as a historical monument since 1936.

Dating from the 14th century, this chapel called “Chapel for White Penitents” was part of a priory established as early as the 12th century. It has a curious bell tower-wall and contains a carved wooden statue.

l’Assomption de la Vierge

Dating from the 12th century, the Romanesque church of the Assumption belonged to the priory of the monks of Lérins. This church has many stelae and stones, covered with Roman inscriptions.

The building also houses real treasures such as the altarpiece of Notre-Dame du Rosaire dating from 1513 and attributed to Louis Bréa, the processional cross and the painting by François Mimault painted in 1640, which represents the wish of Louis XIII.

Jardin des plantes à parfum

Created in 2015, this project was carried out with the valuable help of professionals from the International Museum of Perfumery (MIP) in Grasse.

The garden has no less than 25 varieties of plants with different fragrances, including tuberous, iris, jasmine, lavender or patchouli.
