The Charbonnières Trail
A wild immersion between crystal clear waters, limestone cliffs and vestiges of the past.
Estimated duration: 5 hours
Markings: GPS
Departure: Village of Escragnolles
Starting from the village of Escragnolles, this hike begins with a technical descent marked to ‘dive’ towards the source of the Siagne de la Pare, a veritable haven of freshness hidden at the bottom of the valley. The effort then intensifies with the climb up to the Briasq plateau, a vast, unspoilt area.
The trail then runs along the foothills of Baou Mourine, offering a magnificent panorama of the Côte d'Azur and the Mediterranean in the distance. The return journey takes you through the hamlet of Rouyère, where the trail winds its way between the remains of old charcoal kilns, evidence of the pastoral and forestry activities of yesteryear. The loop ends gently at a place called La Colette before returning to the heart of the village.
