Amirat
Located on the south side of a hill, the village of Amirat offers an exceptional panorama of the upper Estéron valley. Of medieval origin and then located higher up, it was totally abandoned and rebuilt at the end of the 16th century.
Built on a hillside at an altitude of 860 m, it is nestled in the middle of green hills and surrounded by vast forests. A true haven of peace, sunny most of the time, Amirat fills lovers of nature, calm and silence.

The essentials
Sainte-Anne church
Built after the separation of Amirat and Castelet Saint Cassien, its foothills and the small number of openings recall the defensive function of the building. In case of danger, the inhabitants of the village could indeed take refuge within its walls.
The Sainte Anne church is decorated with a double sponge cake, a decorative element that also indicated the social rank and wealth of the owner. It foreshadows the renewal of the village of modern times.
Saint-Jeannet chapel
Located in the Maupoil district, the Saint Jeannet chapel was probably originally a chapel of penitents.
It bears the name of the patron saint of the men of Amirat. Its porch, as large as the building itself was designed to house the pilgrims. It also houses a beautiful wooden grill.

Amirat, is so quiet that it is said that there was a time when the mayor and the inhabitants no longer needed to lock their doors.
The story says that one day, a street vendor, surprised by this calm, stayed so long to talk to the villagers that he forgot to leave before nightfall.
