Le Tignet
Le Tignet is separated from the Var department by the Siagne. A privileged environment on the balcony of the Côte d’Azur makes this Provencal village a magnet that has attracted for more than thirty years many lovers of calm from various backgrounds.
The ancient village curled up around the old Saint-Hilaire church discreetly dominates a landscape that extends from Lake Saint-Cassien to Grasse via the Lérins Islands.
Many cycling routes pass through the municipality of Tignet, including EuroVélo roads…
Routes allowing cycling enthusiasts to enjoy sublime landscapes, using an old railway track or along a canal or the banks of the Siagne…
The essentials
The square of the old village
A few meters from the old parish church, it offers a majestic view stretching from Lake Saint-Cassien to Grasse via the Cannes plain and the Tanneron massif. On a clear day it is also possible to see the Alps of the Italian border as well as the summit of Monte Cinto, the highest point of Corsica.
Saint-Hilaire old parish church
Le Tignet remained for many years without a place of worship, forcing the inhabitants of the commune to go to Cabris to attend mass. It was not until 1714 that the church of the old village was built, as evidenced by the inscription on the smallest bell. The latter is dedicated to Saint-Hilaire just as it seems that the old chapel of the old village was. The parish church later became dilapidated and too small to accommodate the increasingly numerous population from 1950. The Saint-Jean de Cassien church was then built in Val du Tignet in 2003.
