The essentials
The Baussy oil mill
Originally, the facilities descended from Rue des Orangers to the entrance road to Spéracèdes. The mill was until 1956 operated by the Doussan family, the frost led the Doussans to abandon the latter.
Four years later, in 1960, the operation of the mill restarted thanks to Aimé Baussy and his wife, a niece of François Doussan. The mill, located at the bottom of the village, has just turned 100 years old, but it is now at the forefront of progress.
It operates from November to March; during this period of manufacture, it opens its doors to visitors. The rest of the year, he invites tourists and locals to come and discover the olive oils and tapenades produced on site as well as other products such as jams, anchovies, honey, biscuits…
The Saint-Casimir Church
Three dates, engraved on the stones of the church, mark the construction of the church.
The first, 1762, above the entrance, indicates the construction of the church that was originally a chapel.
At the same location, 1849, when the initial chapel was enlarged, the enhancement of the roof and the shape of the first bell tower being still visible on the current walls.
The last 1860 date engraved on a bell tower stone and clearly visible from the square, corresponds to the period when the bell tower was added, when the chapel became a church.
