Some tips for river swimming
The river allows you to escape the crowds on the beaches during the high season and enjoy the coolness.
But be careful, the rules of security and civics remain the same.
It is essential to have good shoes to access the sites.
It is also necessary to ensure the depth of the water before jumping to avoid accidents and watch out for signs indicating danger (water rising following bad weather for example).
Rivers are preserved spaces, we thank you for respecting them.
Le Pont des Gabres
The Pont des Tuves is also called the Pont des Gabres depending on the bank on which you are located. Indeed, this bridge built in 1802 overlooks La Siagne and connects two departments, on one side of the Siagne you are in the Var in Montauroux and on the other you are in Saint-Cézaire in the Alpes Maritimes.
The word Tuves comes from the word tuff (Light porous rock, often friable, formed of volcanic or calcareous deposits).
To access this bridge, you will have to leave from the village of Saint-Cézaire and along the Siagne, through a forest of centuries-old oaks. After about 45 minutes of walking, you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes: the Tuves bridge and its waterfall, a beautiful small beach, many ruins that testify to an important agricultural activity in the past…
A place to recommend to nature lovers, lovers of freshness and invigorating swimming.
L’Arche de Ponadieu
The Siagne, makes hear the omnipresent deaf rumble of its tumultuous waters… Sometimes forming splendid chaos, sometimes spreading in peaceful translucent launes, its waters make a spectacular forced passage under the natural arch of the Ponadieu.
It results from the deposit of limestone (tuf) from an disappeared spring. It is a light rock (used in buildings) in which the footprint of plants is found.
To access it, you will have to walk 45 minutes to 1 hour (accessible to all). The path is downhill and leads to a tank overlooked by this magnificent natural arch that spans the river for 521 meters. The path that leads to the Ponadieu bridge runs partly along the Combe valley, particularly pleasant because it is in the shade of large holm oaks.
This hike forms a loop with a total duration of about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Be careful, the hardest thing for the calves will be the return!
