Public garden: Biovès

The Biovès gardens occupy an elongated space (28 metres wide and 400 metres long) laid out on the Careï course after it was covered. They form the north-western entrance to the town, on the road from Sospel to Menton, and form the link between the climatic town of the 1870s, to the north-east, and the new Condamine district, at the end of the 19th century, on the other bank of the Careï.
They are presented as a series of regular rectangular or square flowerbeds with felled corners, bordered by lateral alleys delimited by lines of citrus trees (bigaradiers). The grassy areas are enlivened by flowerbeds and subtropical ornamental shrubs and lined with ponds, monuments, statues, contemporary sculptures and metal arbours with climbing roses. The final room, at the north-western end, is a clump of trees, including palms and magnolias.
