Le Mas<\/h1>\n

Le Mas is nestled at an altitude of 900m, between 2 mountain ranges. You will appreciate the pure air and the south-facing orientation, the many walks and hikes and the charm of the Gironde, a river once vital for its economy.<\/p>\n

You will discover its rich heritage: Roman remains, Romanesque church and various chapels, as well as a castle and the ruins of a dungeon testifying to an intense medieval life.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Le Mas was on the border of the counties of Provence and Nice.<\/p>\n

Two hamlets are attached to it: the Sausses and the Tardons.<\/p>\n

The essentials<\/h2>\n

Saint-S\u00e9bastien chape<\/h3>\n

Inaugurated in October 2019, the Chapel was entirely decorated by Nice visual artist Patrick Moya. In this Chapel, the artist made a mural that tells the life of San Sebastian, in resonance with the long history of the village since Roman times, as well as with his personal universe and his research in the world of contemporary art.<\/p>\n

Notre-Dame church<\/h3>\n

During the Middle Ages, people came from all over the country on pilgrimage to honor the relic of the chief of Saint-Arnoux as well as a piece of bone from one of his arms. To the north of the building, many shards of Roman tiles attest to the presence of a habitat in the Gallo-Roman era.<\/p>\n

Seigneurial castle<\/h3>\n

Ch\u00e2teau du Mas, now private property, is a classic Provencal house. Engraved on the pediment of the main entrance, the date of 1742 gives an indication of the completion of the construction of the castle.
