Saint-Auban

Saint-Auban is an old village installed in tiers at the foot of the huge rock of Tracastel. This village was in the Middle Ages equipped with ramparts and dungeons.

Today, the village has kept as traces of its medieval past a set of remains and a magnificent perimeter door.

You will be seduced by its charming small lakes with shady surroundings and its green plains.

The clues of the Esteron will impress you with their peaks, cliffs and rocks dug by the river and you will discover a sanctuary cave dedicated to Notre-Dame de la Clue.

The essentials

Terre des Lacs

An eco-tourism complex that invites its visitors, summer and winter, to come and live a stay in harmony with nature. Canyon descent, tree climbing courses, horseback riding or trout fishing. This is part of an ecological and environmental approach. It is labeled “Green Key” and “Tourism Quality”.

Saint-Auban clue

Its renowned and sporty canyoning course with a total duration of about 3h30 (foot access and return included). This particularly fun aquatic course is dotted with obstacles that follow each other quickly throughout the descent.

Saint-Auban church, le chemin de croix

Dating from the 16th century, the church with the double patronage of Saint-Etienne and Saint-Auban is located at the top of the village of Saint-Auban. Supported by foothills, it has a flamboyant Gothic style portal.

Tracastel door

Dating from the 13th century, this set of medieval fortification remains is established at the top of the current village at about 1250 m above sea level. In addition to a splendid panorama, we discover a magnificent perimeter door restored in 2007.

eco-musee and the Heritage path

They were made by the Saint-Auban d’Hier et d’Aujourd’hui association. The eco-museum installed in the old Post Office Hall highlights the objects of the local heritage and associated activities. The heritage route will make you discover all the places that make the attraction and interest of Saint-Auban yesterday and today.
