La-Roquette-sur-Siagne
La Roquette-sur-Siagne is a pleasant village located on the western edge of the Alpes-Maritimes, between sea and mountains. Peacefully installed on the heights overlooking the sea, La Roquette-sur-Siagne offers a vast panorama from Théoule to the harbor of Cannes.
Ideal compromise for holidays, the Roquette is both close to two major cities, Grasse and Cannes, and the sea, (10 km) and you can reach the beaches quickly, go shopping in the city and stroll on the Croisette.
If, on the contrary, you prefer the countryside and the calm, you can rest away from the urban hustle and bustle and crowds of the Coast.
The essentials
Saint-Jean chapel
It is accessed by the Camino de Compostela. Burned during the revolution following the abolition of worship and then sold, the chapel was transformed into a barn and stable by the new owner.
It will not be rebuilt until 1850 and dedicated to Saint-Jean. Inaugurated in 1856, the chapel continues to be frequented today, as well as its small garden inviting tourists and residents to rest, in the shade of large plane trees.
The botanical trail
It runs along the Béal canal from the Saint Jean chapel to the Val de Siagne Cultural and Sports Space, it is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. At the entrance of the promenade, the splash of the water that runs between the reeds and horsetails, filled with serenity. We are happy to discover many aquatic plants that naturally filter the canal.
A rustling of wings is a water hen that lets itself be lulled by the water. From afar we see a kingfisher watching and if we dive with our eyes we discover mails and other keepers going up the current of crystal clear water… A feast for the eyes and a parenthesis of fullness within everyone’s reach.
