Peymeinade
Peymeinade, located at the foot of the Alps and 20 km from the sea, enjoys a privileged environment, among olive trees and floral crops.
Inhabited since Roman times, it was a commercial crossroads (spices, skins, Cannes corals), between Nice and Provence.
It is a Provencal city, formerly rural (flowers), which brings together old houses around the 18th century church with a beautiful round 19th century fountain with lion heads.
Its surroundings allow beautiful walks along the Siagne canal or in the Peygros forest.
The essentials
L’Eglise Saint-Roch churc
On the site of the current church was originally a chapel built by the inhabitants. The latter, too small, gave way to the current building in 1746, the date of inauguration inscribed on the pediment, thus becoming the sacristy of the church.
It was placed under the protection of Saint Roch, patron saint against the plague that devastated the region in the 14th century.
Gervais Court place
Every year, during the first days of August, Peymeinade celebrates Saint-Roch. Previously, this party was held on Place Gervais Court where cheerfulness reigned. You could dance to the sound of the orchestra perched on the washhouse, savor the wine of honor, listen to the speeches or take part in the games and competitions set up for the occasion.
On this square we find the washhouse and a small fountain that were part of the first sets intended to transport water to the village in 1873. The washhouse was restored and covered in 1938. Another fountain with 4 lion heads also adorns the old village square, as well as a trompe-l’oeil facade.
Le Domaine du Mas de l’Olivine
Discover the cultivation of emblematic flowers of the Pays de Grasse (Iris, lily, rose, jasmine…) on this family estate, in the middle of an olive grove of 300 trees.
Two lovers of the land and scents, Audrey (from a family of pickers for 4 generations) and Thierry (gardener, having made beautiful private Mediterranean gardens), open the doors of their 18th century family estate to you.
Gourmets, they transform their flowers themselves into confectionery and offer you many olfactory and taste surprises!
