Séranon
First perched on the ridge, Séranon then built itself in the plain, at the foot of an impressive cliff dug by erosion. Today, the village enjoys a peaceful and gentle tranquility, where time seems to flow more slowly.
As you walk, we appreciate the surrounding landscapes, the washhouse, the 1898 fountain and the petanque court, typical of the South, in the shade of majestic chestnut trees. The sloping alleys lead to a square where, to the delight of the curious, old agricultural machinery, witnesses of the work of the land of yesteryear, are exhibited.
Between nature, heritage and southern art of living, Séranon invites you to stroll without rushing.

The essentials
In Séranon, we explore the village between ancient stones and cliffs. Built on the only high point of the plain, the chapel of Notre-Dame de Gratemoine once watched over an ancient Roman road. This Romanesque chapel, mentioned in 1060 in a charter of the abbey of Lérins, preserves the memory of the monks who rebuilt it in the 12th century.
Higher up, clinging to the “bars”, the ruins of the old Séranon recall the time when the village was perched on the ridge for fear of invasions. Those of the Saint-Michel church, raised at the beginning of the 14th century by Louis de Villeneuve, seem to defy time. The bastide of Broundet completes this discovery of local heritage.
For lovers of sensations, Séranon is also a town recognized for climbing, with no less than 150 routes spread over seven sectors: Le Potager, Chapeau Haut, Chapeau Bas, La Taillante, Le Mur du Pin, Les Grandes Voies and La Terrasse.
History, nature and verticality: in Séranon, we rise to height.
