Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne

Away from major roads, such as Route Napoléon, it is customary to say that we do not go to Saint-Cézaire: we come there. Perched above the Siagne, a wild coastal river that marks the border with the Var department, the village has preserved all its character and rare authenticity. Its history can be read at every turn: dolmens, ancient sarcophagus, medieval church, old castle, medieval enclosure and gates, chapels, wells, washhouses and fountains dot the alleys and tell of centuries of village life.

Around the village, the landscape has been shaped by generations of peasants. Olive fields, restanques, sheds, bridges, mills and squares make up an intact Provencal countryside, where wild fauna and flora live, sometimes unique and protected. Whether you prefer forest paths or steep paths, you can travel them both in summer and winter, each season has its atmosphere and its colors.

In the heart of the village, the Place Général de Gaulle, pedestrian and shaded, invites you to linger. This is where the Tuesday market is held, dedicated to food, and especially the Saturday market, authentic and very popular, which brings together food products and crafts. We stock up on local products and taste PDO olive oil, pride of the terroir, taking the time to discuss with the producers.

Between traditional festivals and many events throughout the year, Saint-Cézaire is a lively village, where you never get bored. A place that you discover once, and where you want to come back.

The essentials

In Saint-Cézaire, we take the time to discover. The chapel of Notre-Dame de Sardaigne, nestled in nature, invites you to a peaceful stop. The Domaine de la Grotte de Saint-Cézaire takes underground, in a world of concretions and lights, guaranteed freshness in summer. From the Pont des Gabres, we dominate the Siagne and its wild landscapes, before embarking on the Gorges de la Siagne, whose trails make hikers happy.

The village is also a land of producers. At the Chèvrerie du Bois d’Amon, we meet the goats and leave with local cheeses, while the apiaries of the municipality offer honey with the scents of garrigue and forest.

Heritage, nature and greed: here, we don’t pass, we come.
